CAL SOUTH STATE CUP YOUNGERS CROWN FINAL CHAMPIONS; FOUR TEAMS CLINCH TICKETS TO FAR WEST PRESIDENTS CUP

March 09, 2018

The Cal South State Cup youngers crowned its final champions as it closed out activity in the Presidents Division by hosting the 12U, 13U and 14U Boys & Girls finals last weekend at Galway Downs.

From the six finals, the champions in the 13U and 14U age groups have clinched their ticket to participate in the 2018 US Youth Soccer Far West Presidents Cup in Salt Lake City. The tournament is set to take place from June 12-17 in Utah, with all 13 Region IV states participating.

But in order to get to Salt Lake City and claim local pride, hundreds of teams hurdled to participate in one of the toughest and largest competitions in the country, the Cal South State Cup Presidents Division. From Day 1, teams were tested and challenged, but only one team would remain standing in the end.

Such was the case of Westside Breakers in the 12U Girls Division, whom despite facing several obstacles, including in the championship match against Slammers FC, gave a fight and came out on top.

“[The girls] tend to keep fighting, they stay vigilant, they’re resilient, they kept getting after it,” said the Breakers coach. “The Slammers FC team was challenging, they were athletic, they were feisty, and in all the areas, maybe, that’s a challenge for us.”

Summer ahead
Pateadores HB, Soltilo FC, Slammers FC and the Central California Aztecs will be heading to Salt Lake City this summer to represent Cal South in the Far West Presidents Cup. The tournament welcomes teams starting from 13U up to 18U age groups. The top teams from each group will then qualify to play for the National title in Westfield, Indiana.

With the conclusion of the Cal South State Cup Youngers Division, the Presidents Olders Division is set to kick off on April 7. Follow all the action through Cal South’s social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and add us on Snapchat: @CalSouthSoccer.
